Artist’s Statement:

My interest in religious iconography started when I was young, gazing at the Jesus figurines and print reproductions my maternal grandmother kept around her apartment in Somerville, Massachusetts.

At first I felt this image was fun because it was a provocative use of iconography. After sitting with it, I realized it was also a statement of support for the LGBTQ community -- and I like that even more. If there is a God, she loves LGBTQ people.
